Modiphius Entertainment continues to support Dune: Adventures in the Imperium. While there have been several tabletop adaptations of Frank Herbert's sci-fi book series, depicting everything from battles on the world of Arrakis to political espionage, Modiphius' award-winning TTRPG adaptation lets players take on the roles of nobility within this universe. This new supplement, Power and Pawns: The Emperor's Court, expands players' political options to a galactic scale.
Power and Pawns: The Emperor's Court announcement
According to an official press release by Modiphius, Power and Pawns: The Emperor's Court is a supplement designed for politics-focused games of Dune: Adventures in the Imperium. While the base game only had you as small pawns within various Houses, this supplement allows you to play as the rulers of the House, with all of the power, influence, enemies, and opportunities that come with such titles. This 144-page supplement includes new worldbuilding details of the Imperial homeworld of Kaitain. New player options include the chance to play as the brutal warrior Sardaukar, new options for Mentats including the secrets of the Face Dancers, and new talents and skills for graduates of the Ginaz sword school and Suk medical school. As for Game Masters not used to running games set on the scale of galaxy-shaping political machinations, the book also provides tips and guides for creating political campaigns and complex intrigues.

Finally, Power and Pawns: The Emperor's Court will include a pre-written adventure. The adventure, titled Blood and Riches, tasks the players with negotiating a tense conflict between two great Houses. If the conflict isn't resolved amicably, the results include plunging the entire Imperium into war. Said adventure can be the beginning of a long-running campaign for players who wish to test their ambition, obtain more political power, and destroy the reputations of their enemy.
Power and Pawns: The Emperor's Court is available for pre-order right now on Modiphius' store page at an MSRP of $48. Physical copies will ship in June 2023.
