After the conclusion of a Humble Bundle featuring the first edition of Paizo's Pathfinder RPG, the company announced plans for its second edition today. Pathfinder Second Edition drops August 1, just in time for this year's Gen Con in Indianapolis. Pathfinder, originally a set of house rules for the 3.5 edition of Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons, recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. Since then, it has captivated players with six-part Adventure Paths and supplements for its Golarion setting. Now, it's time for more Pathfinder Second Edition details to be shared.

Launch titles for the new edition include a Core Rulebook, a Bestiary, the Lost Omens World Guide, a module titled The Fall of Plaguestone, and the first part of an adventure path called Hellknight Hill. Products also include the Pathfinder Flip-Mat: The Fall of Plaguestone, a Character Sheet Pack, GM Screen, Combat Pad, and Condition Card Deck. Paizo plans to reveal additional products in the coming weeks.

Erik Mona, a Paizo Publisher, released a statement sharing an appreciation for the thousands of playtesters. After its release last August at Gen Con, the company encouraged players to share their thoughts.

“The launch slate provides everything you need to set out on a world of limitless fantasy adventure. With more than 20 years of active development and playtest feedback from more than 125,000 gamers, the new Pathfinder rules are easy to learn and exciting to master. We can’t wait to see the diverse and deeply customized characters the RPG community will create!”
More information about the upcoming products, including prices, is available on Paizo's website. Paizo Publishing is taking preorders for Pathfinder Second Edition products now. The eleven core classes (barbarian, bard, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, and wizard) return. The bomb-hurling potion-mixing alchemist also joins the fray as a core class option. Races are now divided into heritages, including Paizo's beloved goblins.

Pathfinder Second Edition drops August 1, 2019. Stay tuned for Pathfinder Second Edition details as Paizo unveils more content.

Quick Take

I'm very excited for Paizo. The company produces a staggering amount of content. I remember when Starfinder dropped at Gen Con 2017 and people were all over it. I think they sold out of copies the first day. I'm eager to see how this year's big release plays out for them.
