Munchkin Collectible Card Game

The release schedule for the upcoming Munchkin Collectible Card Game has been revealed according to Dice Tower News.

Munchkin is a card game for three to six players where you and your friends experience a role-playing adventure in a world rife with tropes, satire, and casual bending of the rules. Named after a term for someone who plays a non-competitive game seriously, the game is rife with humor familiar to geeks. Many different versions of the core game have been released based on different themes such as Munchkin Bites! (horror), Munchkin Fu (martial arts), and Star Munchkin (space & sci-fi). Steve Jackson Games intends to expand the brand into the collectible card game market with the Munchkin CCG.

Designers Eric M. Lang and Kevin Wilson have been working on the Munchkin Collectible Card Game for over a year and we now have some firm details about the release schedule. The first wave of three starter sets will be comprised of Ranger versus Warrior, Wizard versus Bard, & Cleric versus Thief; they will release in February 2018.  The first cycle of booster cards (titled The Desolation of Blarg and containing 12 randomized cards each) will launch in May 2018. Finally, the second cycle of boosters (titled Fashion Furious) will drop in August 2018.

According to ICv2, the starter sets will include two different hero decks, two level counters, 40 tokens, one die, two Run Away markers, and a Booster Pack. Booster Packs will contain at least one rare card. The starter sets are expected to retail for $24.95 and booster packs will retail for $3.95. An "Organized Play Kit" will be available for gaming stores to host drafting events, containing special cards with different art than what's available in the retail version. The Munchkin Collectible Card Game was first shown at the GAMA Trade Show in 2016.
