MonteCook Games have announced a new book called Arcana Of The Ancients which will help dungeon masters to bring science fantasy to the classical fantasy setting of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. The book is planned to be a hardback edition which will help people to introduce more scientific elements to their campaigns and will include ideas on characters, technology, and adventure elements to make the inclusions as fun and interesting as possible.
Arcana Of The Ancients takes the player characters on an adventure which has them discovering long lost civilizations and introducing previously unheard of technologies to the world. The book will feature pre-made adventures for a full campaign as well as ways to incorporate new technologies to previously existing campaign settings as well as advice on how to construct and integrate science fantasy elements to a group's own campaigns. There is also a whole new set of skills which players can use to either advance or create characters who are fully integrated into a world which has both magic and powerful technology.
The book will also feature many elements and locations from MonteCook Games' own tabletop RPG Numenera. The book will help people to convert the ninth world, the setting of Numenera, for use in 5e, complete with ancient technologies just as more mysterious to the characters of a fantasy world as the magical powers that they wield. How many elements from Numenera that the group uses will be up to the players, allowing them to include small regions or the entire campaign setting. The book will be hitting Kickstarter at some point in March-2019 and is tentatively slated for an early 2020 release date.
