The gaming industry as a whole are making their voices heard in light of current events. Russia's unsanctioned invasion of Ukraine, causing untold death and destruction to its people, has led to multiple organizations around the world offering support to suffering Ukrainians. Tabletop publisher Modiphius Entertainment have stepped forward to add to that growing support for Ukraine.
Many game developers have taken their own actions to show support. Bloober Team (The Medium, Layers of Fear) have officially stopped sales of their games to Russia and Belarus. CD Projekt RED (Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3) have completely shut off access to their digital PC gaming storefront GOG. Even The Pokemon Company has donated funds to Ukranian relief.
In an official press release, Modiphius made their stance abundantly clear. Chris and Rita Burch, the founders of Modiphius Entertainment, issued the following formal statement:
We have been deeply affected by the events of the past week and we at Modiphius deplore the humanitarian disaster unfolding due to the invasion of Ukraine. We join the international cry for an end to the war,
We are actively helping our Ukraine-based freelancers and customers, and as an immediate action, announce that from now until midnight PST on March 6th, all proceeds from sales of PDFs from the Modiphius webstores will be donated to front line humanitarian aid efforts. Meanwhile, we will also be exploring other ways in which we can help.
This announcement by Modiphius Entertainment is major. The company has published many eclectic tabletop RPGs in the past, mostly those based on official licenses like Dishonored, Fallout, and Achtung! Cthulhu. Fans of those properties can now support this developer as they support the humanitarian crisis currently ongoing in our real world.
In addition, Modiphius Entertainment has included a link to a Ukraine resources page if you wish to donate money or directly to an organization, or even volunteer your own time and talents to the cause.
