Modiphius Entertainment have announced Homeworld Fleet Command. The tabletop developer has been busy recently with new campaign books for their award-winning TTRPG adaptation of the world of Dune, a transmedia project in the form of Cohors Cthulhu, as well as ongoing support for the officially licensed tabletop miniatures game Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. Now, they will be adapting one of the most beloved real-time strategy videogames to the gaming table.
What is Homeworld Fleet Command?
According to an official press release, Homeworld Fleet Command is a competitive tactical miniatures game. The game puts 1-4 players into the role of admirals for either the Kushan or the Taiiidan fleets as they battle for supremacy across the stars. To this end, you will command a wide assortment of ships including squadrons of fighters, corvettes, frigates, destroyers, and devastating capital ships. The game is being developed by Nick Fallon (Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish) and Modiphius CCO Chris Birch, and will include mechanics heavily inspired by Airfix Battles Introductory Wargame to allow for quick-paced large-scale battles.
"Homeworld was one of those incredibly memorable moments in video gaming, with huge mind-blowing starship battles and an epic storyline,” said Birch. “I’ve always wanted to bring that feel to the tabletop, but do it in a way that led to fast and sometimes vicious battles that had a visceral feel but didn’t take days to resolve.”
Homeworld Fleet Command will contain the following:
- 10-part campaign that will let players grow from simple skirmishes to staging major battles like Supernova Station and the Tenhauser Gate
- Step-by-step scenarios to help familiarize new players with the rules and mechanics
- 101 plastic ship miniatures. These will include 48 Fighters, 24 Corvettes, 24 Frigates, 2 Carriers, 2 Destroyers, and a Mothership.
- A solo-mode where you can play as either faction
When will Homeworld Fleet Command be available?
According to Modiphius, Homeworld Fleet Command will be coming to a crowdfunding platform later in 2022. At time of writing, there is no indication as to which platform will host the project. It has been confirmed that backers will have a chance to buy both the base game and an expansion that will add more ships, campaign scenarios, and new game mechanics.
