Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game Is Back, And It's Coming Next Year

Good news for tabletop enthusiasts and stealth lovers: the Metal Gear Solid board game is back. Handily titled Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game, the tabletop adaptation of Hideo Kojima and Konami's sneaky masterpiece is shipping next year, and pre-orders are open for it right now.

If you've been anticipating a Metal Gear board game, the last couple of years haven't been a great time. First, the Metal Gear Solid board game got canceled back in 2021, then fans discovered another secret canceled Metal Gear tabletop project, suggesting that bringing this franchise to the world of board gaming has been difficult to say the least.


Now, though, it looks like things are finally back on track. Per an official Konami news postMetal Gear Solid: The Board Game is officially back, and it starts shipping in April 2024. You can pre-order it right now, and if you do, you'll get access to the Integral Edition, which includes a 109-page graphic novel and a Metal Gear REX mini. On CMON's official pre-order page, you'll find a ton of extra info about Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game. It includes iconic Metal Gear characters like Snake, Meryl, and Otacon, and each character has their own unique set of abilities. By using equipment and planning out your stealthy approach, you'll take on Missions and complete objectives. 

If you're not feeling too ambitious, you can try out any one of the 6 Missions included in the VR Mission Book, but there's also a huge Shadow Moses campaign book with a whopping 14 missions to try out. As you play, you'll come up against iconic bosses from the original Metal Gear Solid, including Liquid Snake, Vulcan Raven, and Revolver Ocelot.
