The TTRPG community have been anticipating the release of Dungeons and Dragons' newest adventure book, Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel. It has been promoted as an anthology adventure book with its various adventures removed from euro-centric fantasy. The creative team behind it is also packed with POCs with extensive work in the tabletop industry, including the lead of the book, Ajit George, whose work includes the gothic horror adventure Curse of Strahd. Wizards of the Coast even gave out the first chapter of the book as a preview. Now, ahead of the book's release, the developers at DMs Guild have announced Journeys Beyond The Radiant CItadel, a gazette dedicated to fleshing out the various worlds and peoples glimpsed in the official book.
What Is Journeys Beyond The Radiant Citadel?
For those not aware, DMs Guild is a program where developers of tabletop games can create new content in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. This content can include new adventures in established settings, new mechanics, subclasses, or character archetypes. The program's support page even mentions the possibility of your work being recognized by the studio, leading to more formal partnerships on future products. Notable content from this program include She Is The Ancient, a gender-swapped version of Curse of Strahd that greatly re-imagines the central characters as well as the resulting gender dynamics, and the "darkest timeline" setting that is The Doomed Forgotten Realms.
The announcement for Journeys Beyond The Radiant Citadel came from a tweet by tabletop developer Anthony Joyce-Rivera. The tweet promotes the book as a collection of seven gazettes that will greatly expand the lore and scenarios found in the various worlds shown in Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel. Furthermore, Rivera mentions that the creative voices behind these gazettes will include the original designers of the anthology book. If your group want to do an entire long-form campaign in one of the settings depicted, these gazettes will be crucial.
When Will Journeys Beyond The Radiant Citadel Be Available?
In a follow-up tweet, Rivera confirmed that Journeys Beyond The Radiant Citadel will be available for purchase on DMs Guild on July 19. This is the same date as Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel.
