An Ironsworn: Starforged retail release is coming. Modiphius Entertainment have announced that they have partnered with the creator of the Ironsworn TTRPG, Shawn Tomkin, in order to help bring this sci-fi reinvention of his work to stores around the world. This is a major development since the only alternative to getting a physical copy of this piece of Tomkin's work was to have originally backed the game's 2021 Kickstarter.
What is in the Ironsworn: Starforged retail release?
According to an official press release, the Ironsworn: Starforged retail version will be a Deluxe Edition of the TTRPG. In it, you are a spacefaring hero, traveling to parts unknown and undertaking quests. As the name of the game implies, you will forge bonds across your travels and will swear ironclad vows to them, vows that you will keep no matter the cost. The Deluxe Edition will be co-published by Absolute Tabletop and be distributed to retail stores by Modiphius. It will contain the following:
- A 400+ page Core Rulebook
- A wirebound Reference Guide to help GMs keep rules and charts on hand
- A deck of Character Asset Cards
- Extensive story-driven mechanics, story prompts, as well as system-agnostic generation rules for ships, planets, settlements, and people.
- Rules for playing Guided (traditional TTRPG with multiple players), Co-op (two players work together in a GM-less campaign) and Solo.
This is an extensive amount of material. All of this is supported by positive word of mouth about Ironsworn: Starforged. Since its release in May 2022, it has received more than 130 5-star user reviews across DriveThruRPG and itch.io. Furthermore, the original Kickstarter raised $347.983 with 6,782 backers. This is consistent with Tomkin's work dating back to the 2019 release of Ironsworn, which earned an ENnie for Best Free Game, and then continued with ongoing supplements.

When will the Ironsworn: Starforged retail release be available?
At time of writing, there is currently no release date or MSRP for Ironsworn: Starforged. It is currently slated to release in Q4 of 2022.
