Warhammer Boat showing delayed preorders

If you were planning on ordering anything by Games Workshop, you might want to delay those plans.

In an official post on their Warhammer Community page the studio behind Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000, announced it would be making changes to their pre-order schedule. The long and short of the post is that due to some changes happening behind-the-scenes with the company, pre-orders were being temporarily disabled on their storefront.

While there were no explicit reasons stated for these changes, Games Workshop may have alluded to it having to do with shipping and production issues. The opening sentence of the post states, "It’s still a pretty weird time for anyone making physical products and shipping them around the globe." This may be due to the now-infamous impact on global trade by the blocking of the Suez Canal by the Evergreen supertanker, or due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, or some mixture of both.

The good news is that while nothing new may be available to order, you can still buy things from Games Workshop's store. In addition to their vast catalog of books and miniatures, new products will become available for order in May. This includes a new hardback printing of books 31-35 of the Horus Heresy novel series, which will be available two weeks from this upcoming Saturday. Games Workshop also insisted that this would not affect product availability based on region. Whether you get your stuff from a local shop, Forgeworld, or the Warhammer store, things will remain as it was.

Games Workshop's official post concluded with a promotion for their content on Warhammer Live, revealing a schedule of upcoming streams to watch, promising more exciting products were on the way. These include A look at the bold heroes and terrifyingly spiky villains from a forthcoming Warhammer animation, model reveals for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and expert advice on dominating the Mortal Realms with aelf armies in Metawatch.
