Recently, Fantasy Flight Games released Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Revised Edition. As the name suggests, it is streamlined reprint of the Middle-earth based living card game where players take on the roles of the Fellowship and defend the land from the dark forces of Sauron. Now, Fantasy Flight Games have announced that these revised rereleases will continue with a new expansion coming to the game, titled Angmar Awakened.
According to the official post, Angmar Awakened are reprints of two packs released earlier for card game. Those expansions were the Hero expansion and the Campaign expansion respectively. Notably the Campaign expansion will include everything in The Lost Realm release as well as several Campaign cards that were not included in the original release. Much like with the Revised Edition and The Dark of Mirkwood set, all of the new Campaign cards will be available for free in print-and-play form for those who bought these packs during their original release.
As for what exactly is in the Angmar Awakened expansion itself, Fantasy Flight were quick to share. For heroes, they include Aragorn and Halbarad of the Dunedain, powerful elves like Arwen and Erestor, all with unique allies, attachments, equipment and themed events. In addition, the pack will include side-quest cards. These are played during the planning phase. Players can either choose to complete it rather than the main quest for a reward, or stick to the critical path. As for the Campaign expansion, it will pit the party against Orks, deadly wraiths, and eventually lead them deep into the capital of Angmar, uncovering a sinister plot.
Between the renewed support for Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and the positive reception to Free League's newest edition of The One Ring, fans of Middle-earth have plenty to be interested in. The Angmar Expansion is available for pre-order right now and will release later this Summer.
