7 Wonders fans have a lot to look forward to thanks to a new announcement by Asmodee Publishing and Repos Productions. A brand new standalone entry of the series is coming called 7 Wonders Architects.

In an official press release by the publisher, the game will be a more streamlined experience, focusing more on family-friendly accessibility and quick sessions. Up to seven players will be empowered to create their own architectural wonder that will stand the test of time. Each player will receive an unconstructed Wonder and will take turns gathering and managing resources, raising armies to navigate conflict, research science projects, and race to claim civil victory points before other players do the same. In short, it is more 7 Wonders, but with quicker, more easy-to-understand rules for new players to enjoy.

“As I get older, I play more games with my family than a gaming group. This got me thinking about games that are welcoming to newcomers and can be enjoyed by friends and families,” Antoine Bauza, the creator of the 7 Wonders franchise, said. “7 Wonders: Architects is built around the idea that games can be enjoyed by anyone, even players who are new to the hobby. Games like 7 Wonders Architects are perfect for introducing more people to our hobby and I look forward to welcoming a new generation of board game enthusiasts.”

Wow, that does look great for new players

Bauza wasn't kidding when it came to helping more people enjoy this game. According to the press release, the recommended age for this game is eight and up, with an average game being about 25 minutes. It's a great exercise in diversity to go alongside giveaways and other spin-offs.

While 7 Wonders Architects does not have a concrete release date yet, but it will be going on sale for the retail price of $49.99. Given the dire straits the industry is going through in the ongoing waves of the global pandemic, this is to be expected. Thankfully for those still curious about how it plays, Asmodee will be showing the game in a Livestream on their official Facebook page on Friday, September 16 at 11 AM PT/ 2 PM ET.
