Recently, Steamforged Games announced that they were making a Dark Souls tabletop RPG. It started with a brief teaser on their twitter account. Then, they revealed more details such as the RPG would be a singular massive book with everything needed to run a campaign included and that it would be using a heavily revised version of the Dungeons & Dragons 5e OGL. Now Steamforged Games have announced that not only is this tabletop adaptation of the beloved dark fantasy action RPG available for pre-order, but a Collector's Edition is on the way as well.
In an official press release, Steamforged Games gave further details about the Dark Souls tabletop RPG's Collector's Edition. First, the collector's edition wouldn't contain any additional material or accessories not found in the standard edition. It is still the same 500-page tabletop RPG hardcover rulebook with everything included. The key difference is that the Collector's Edition book will done in a leather-look material, embossed in gold foil with gilt-edged pages. This contrast between the black cover and gold is to invoke the Dark Souls' series ongoing themes of darkness and fire, which is depicted in the games' iconic bonfires.
The catch is that this Collector's Edition of the Dark Souls tabletop RPG will be a limited printing. Only 5000 copies will be produced. In addition, these copies will only be available directly through Steamforged Games' store page. The current retail price for this Collector's Edition is $99.95, with pre-orders going live February 16.
Alternatively, the standard edition of the Dark Souls tabletop RPG is available for pre-order right now. The standard edition will be sold at $49.95, and will be shipped out to customers in the UK and EU around March 2022, with customers in the US getting their copies in May. It must be noted however that due to the ongoing complications regarding sea freight shipping around the world, these dates may not entirely be set in stone.
