Cubicle 7 have announced a new TTRPG set in Games Workshop's grimdark sci-fi universe, Warhammer 40k Imperium Maledictum. This isn't the first TTRPG set in one of Games Workshop's worlds, there have RPGs set in Warhammer Fantasy as well as the smaller ship-based voyages of Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader are the most popular. However, this RPG will not be focusing on Space Marines or the forces of Chaos, but on agents dedicated to investigation, intrigue, and rooting out dissent.

What Is Warhammer 40k: Imperium Maledictum?

According to an official post on Cubicle 7's website, Warhammer 40k: Imperium Maledictum will run on the same d100 system used by other Warhammer TTRPGs. As mentioned before, player characters are regular citizens of the Imperium of Man, but given special privileges and influence by being patrons to an Inquisitor. Because of this, you are able to explore and visit parts of Imperial life you would not be able to under normal circumstances, all in service of investigating potential heretics and being on the watch for the influence of Chaos.

The core rulebook for Warhammer 40k: Imperium Maledictum will include new lore about Imperium as well. According to the book, campaigns will take place in the Macharian Sector, named after the Lord Solar Macharius. In addition to in-depth rules regarding competing factions and organizations that will test your characters' various loyalties as well as affect elements of your investigation, the book will also contain enemies for you to confront. Despite being set in the Imperium, this is still the world of Warhammer 40k where death and destruction are around every corner after all. Future supplements have also been confirmed, which will add additional factions and groups for players to pledge loyalty to, either Inquisitors or even servants of the Ecclesiarchy.
