Stephen Colbert Red Nose Day

Back in 2019, the tabletop gaming group Critical Role teamed up with The Late Show host Stephen Colbert for a Red Nose Day charity event. Officially titled Choose Stephen Colbert's Adventure, it was a miniature one-shot adventure GM'd by Matt Mercer with Colbert as a player. The twist was that all of the adventure's story and game elements were voted upon by those who donated to the event. It ended up raising $120,000 for the annual nonprofit organization. Now, the pair are teaming up once again.

Like last time, all proceeds from this event will go to the annual event Red Nose Day. For those not aware, the nonprofit organization supports multiple programs with the express purpose of addressing families facing financial inequity and wiping out child poverty. In the seven years since their founding, they have raised $270 million and have assisted more than 25 million children in the United States and around the world.

When is the Critical Role Stephen Colbert Red Nose Day Event?

As for what this new event for Red Nose Day is, both CR and Colbert seem to be sticking to what worked before. The official title is Choose Stephen Colbert's Adventure... Again, and it will be yet another one-shot adventure GM'd by Mercer and played by Colbert as well as other members of the CR crew. But before the adventure plays out, between March 26 (although the page is live at time of writing) until April 1, you can donate to the event right here. Your donations will be allocated into votes within certain polls that will determine what Colbert's adventuring party faces. That adventure will be broadcast live on Thursday April 28 at 7PM Pacific.

Given the success and wild popularity of Critical Role, the partnership with Colbert for Red Nose Day makes for not just a lot of money raised for a good cause, but the entertaining prospect of a chaotic one-shot adventure. Given both Mercer's involvement with the recently released pre-written adventure, Call of the Netherdeep, as well as other projects teased through their own company, Darrington Press, being able to give back to the community is consistent with the tagline of Critical Role's own charity, "leave the world better than you found it."
