Games Workshop is bringing back classic Warhammer 40k Space Marines. The tabletop developer has done their part to make their grimdark sci-fi universe feel a bit more festive during the holidays. This has included humorous releases like the Ork Goff Rocker as well as bringing back older models for their nostalgic fanbase. And this year will feature a throwback to the earlier days of the Imperium of Man.
The classic Warhammer 40k Space Marines announcement
The announcement of the classic Warhammer 40k Space Marines came from a Warhammer Community post on Christmas Day. According to the post, all of these figures will be made on a made to order basis, but orders will end on January 2. As for which classic models are returning, there are a few of note. If you're looking for classic single units, the Space Marine Commander, Space Marine Captain, Lord Executioner, Chaplain With Jetpack, Librarian in Terminator Armour, and Techmarine are available. Each of these units will cost $35, and aren't all made from the same material. The Space Marine Commander, Captain, Librarian are plastic, while the Techmarine, Chaplain, and Lord Executioner are made of resin.
But if you want multiple sets of classic Warhammer 40k Space Marines, you have some options as well. The Armour Through Ages set ($40) contains five Space Marine models wearing different sets of armor throughout the history of the game. The armor ranges from the MK1 Thunder Armor to the MKV Heresy Armor. The Heroes of the Chapter set ($80), contains eight Primaris Space Marines: five Intercessors, two Lieutenants, and one Ancient respectively. Finally, the Masters of the Chapter set ($45) holds four Chapter Master units. The Armour Through Ages models are made of a mix of resin and plastic, the Masters of the Chapter are resin, and the Heroes of the Chapter models are all plastic respectively.
Given how much the Warhammer 40k Space Marines have changed over the years, picking up these classic models is more of a novelty than anything else. Some of the units featured above don't even have stats in the game's newest codex. But for those that want them, the clock is ticking.
