Monte Cook Games continues to support the Cypher TTRPG. This award-winning game system has garnered a dedicated playerbase thanks to its simple, storytelling-focused game mechanics. The core rulebook is setting-agnostic, allowing for a wide variety of genres from the high-fantasy of Numenera to the rural horror of Old Gods of Appalachia. The system also has an open game license, allowing aspiring creators to use the system to develop stories of their own. Now, their newest crowdfunding campaign, Adventures in the Cypher System, will provide new tools for players and GMs, including a new starter set.
The Adventures in the Cypher System campaign
The Adventures in the Cypher System campaign recently went live on Backerkit. The campaign summary goes into detail about the appeal of the Cypher TTRPG system, such as its accessibility and crossover compatibility. The campaign also highlights several genrebooks for the system. These supplements provide players rules and advice on portraying various genres like sci-fi, horror, and superheroes at the gaming table.
As for what is new in the campaign, the first item mentioned is the Cypher Starter Set. It will include basic rules, premade character sheets, and several adventures. Following that is a Deluxe Edition of the Cypher Core Rulebook. The contents of the book remain the same, but the Deluxe Edition will sport a vegan leather cover, foil stamping and debossing, edge gilding, and a satin ribbon bookmark. Two new genrebooks are also coming. Rust and Redemption will provide rules and prompts about how to run a post-apocalyptic campaign, and It's Only Magic will help players bring the fantastic and mundane together with urban fantasy.
Finally, the Adventures in the Cypher System campaign promotes several stretch goals. The first of these is the Cypher System Bestiary. This book will provide not just different creatures but maps of lairs, sample organizations, goals, and schemes, as well as adventure frameworks. The second stretch goal is a large poster map, featuring artwork from the Rust and Redemption book. The campaign states that more stretch goals will be revealed as the campaign progresses

- Cypher Veteran for $100: A copy of both Rust and Redemption and It's Only Magic in both print and PDF.

The Adventures in the Cypher System campaign provides more backer options as well. By backing any of the tiers above, you will receive a PDF of the Cypher Core Rulebook at no additional charge. Furthermore, the campaign contains add-ons. This includes character and creature decks, t-shirts, and bundles of other Cypher RPG. Those RPGs include Ptolus, Predation, and a Cypher conversion of the D&D 5e book, Path of the Planebreaker. At the time of writing, the Adventures in the Cypher System campaign has raised $177,082, more than tripling its goal of $50,000. The campaign will conclude on February 24.
