A pioneering actual play production is returning. Back in 2008, Penny Arcade started the D&D show Acquisitions Incorporated. It became widely popular thanks to the novel (at the time) appeal of listening to several close friends playing D&D and getting into adventures. Eventually, the show expanded from a podcast to a YouTube series to recurring on-stage broadcast sessions at PAX. The show predates actual play household names like Critical Role and Dimension20 and spawned several board games as well as an official D&D supplement. Now, 15 years later, Acquisitions Incorporated Series 2 is coming.

According to an official press release, Acquisitions Incorporated Series 2 will bring back familiar faces and producers. The series will star Acquisitions Incorporated and Penny Arcade co-creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. In addition, TTRPG streaming veteran Jasmine Bhullar (Critical Role, Dimension20, Penny Arcade's Court of Cups) as well as TTRPG mainstay and Producer Anna Prosser (Acquisitions Incorporated, Dice Camera Action) will have a place at the table. Finally, the DMs behind this new series are D&D 5e's Lead Rules Designer Jeremy Crawford and Senior Story Designer Chris Perkins respectively.
As for when Acquisitions Incorporated Series 2 will be returning, there are a few dates to keep in mind. First, a Kickstarter campaign will be going live on March 8. The proceeds from the campaign will help fund the production as well as reward valued fans.
“The only problem with tabletop gaming, other than rolling critical fails at the worst possible moment, is that we can’t fit everybody we want around the table, but Acquisitions Incorporated is the closest we’ve ever gotten,” said Penny Arcade’s Jerry Holkins. “The Series 2 Kickstarter DOES, however, allow everybody to give us their money…to make the show even bigger and better, of course.”
Acquisitions Incorporated Series 2 is scheduled to debut in September 2023.
