League of Legends is entering the physical TCG space with the release of Riftbound, releasing in English in October 2025. This fast-paced, objective-based TCG has players building out decks of your favorite League of Legends characters, stacking them with signature spells, units, and mana, and then playing them against one another.

A neat feature of Riftbound is that your Legend and Champion Unit are always on display on the game board so it's a great place to show off your favorite, rarest, or cutest card. We're going to take you through understanding how to spot the rarity of a card, and also what is even possible to appear at certain rarities.

Where Is The Rarity Of A Riftbound Card?

The rarity of a Riftbound card can be found as the symbol at the bottom middle of each card, or as the color of the filigree around the edges. The indicators of the cards range from a circle, a common, all the way up to a hexagon which denotes a card with alternate artwork.

The rankings of rarity are:

  • Common - White Circle Symbol / Bronze Border
    • These cards will be the standard Units, Spells, and basic Mana
  • Rare - Blue Triangle Symbol / Silver Border
    • These cards can offer Units and Spells, but also Battlegrounds
  • Epic - Purple Diamond Symbol / Gold Border
    • This includes Legend cards, and Full Art Units and Champion Units
  • Epic Rare - Orange Pentagon Symbol / Gold Border
    • This includes Full Art Champion Units, Units, SIgnature Spells, and Gear
  • Alt Art 1 and Alt Art 2 - Hexagon
    • Alt Art cards are always the same mechanically as other cards in the set but feature new full card artwork and are much rarer to come by.

The base of each card will also feature a code denoting what set it comes from — OGN for the Riftbound Origin set — alongside the number that the card is in the set order.

Riftbound Booster Box Prices

If you are interested in beginning to build up your collection of Riftbound cards then there's a number of ways you can obtain them. Each is listed below with the current MSRP, but that may change as we get closer to release.

  • Booster Pack (14 Cards) - Price Not Currently Known
  • Booster Display (24 Packs / 336 Cards) - $4.99 per pack / ~$120
  • Champion Deck (1 Pre-constructed Deck + 1 Booster) - $19.99
  • Proving Grounds (4 Pre-constructed Decks*) - $29.99
    • The decks included in Proving Grounds will have cards that are specifically less powerful than those found in Booster Packs and the other Pre-Constructed decks. This is intended to make Proving Grounds an ideal purchase for a beginner who is interested in trying out Riftbound but doesn't want to make a large initial investment.

Riftbound Booster Pack Rates And Special Cards

When TechRaptor attended the Riftbound League of Legends Pre-Launch Summit we were provided the information about what type of cards each Booster Pack will contain, and the odds of obtaining each of the types of cards including special Overnumbered Cards.

Standard Booster Pack Rates (14 cards)

  • 7 Common Cards
  • 3 Uncommon Cards
  • 1 Foil Card - Contains a parallel foil for any Common or Uncommon, this card can also be Rare, Epic, Alternate, or Overnumbered
  • 2 Flex Card - These cards will always be Rare or better
  • 1 Token or Mana - Rare Alternate Art Mana is also possible to be drawn here
  • There will also be a marketing card that has a location finder for game related events, and Keyword explanations

Riftbound Overnumbered Rates

If you're wondering what the rates are for special cards like the Alternate Arts and Overnumbered cards they are as follows:

  • There are around 2 Alt Art cards per box of booster packs (24 packs in a box)
  • There will be around 1 Overnumbered card per 1-3 boxes (24-72 packs)
  • There will be a signature Overnumbered card at the rate of 1 out of every 10 Overnumbered Cards
    • Assuming a median of 36 packs per Overnumbered card, this would mean you'd need to open ~360 packs to obtain a Signature Overnumbered card

At the moment the only Signature Overnumbered card that has been revealed is the Yasuo, revealed at the Pre-Launch Summit in LA, and the XXXXX, revealed at the Pre-Launch Summit in China. You can see them below:

At the moment we don't have an image of these, but will update when one is released

Every Riftbound card that's Rare or higher will get some kind of Foil treatment to make sure that you can take your Alt Art or Overnumbered card and show them off to your friends. It was asked whether God Packs were going to be part of the manufacturing process, at the time Riot Games had no information to provide…
