Dating sims are a special kind of game. Good ones will give you a lot of choices in partners, and some of them even let you live your dreams (or nightmares) as a harem protagonist. Hey Cutie is an upcoming tabletop game from One Method Monkey that translates the dating sim experience to a board game, and they're now raising funds for production via Kickstarter.

All About Hey Cutie

In Hey Cutie, players take on one of multiple different people who are trying to score a date. Scratch that—several dates. Your choice of character is purely cosmetic; the more important thing is trying to woo as many Crushes as possible.

Players accomplish this by allocating points to one of four stats (looks, brains, charm, and edge) and using those points to buy cards from a common pool. These cards are then combined to attract the attention of crushes, each of which have their own distinct tastes.

Furthermore, you're also able to purchase power-ups and items to help you be even more of a success in the dating world. Not all of them are positive, mind; slap a fedora on your opponent's head and laugh as they can't get a date at all!

I previewed an early copy of this tabletop game not too long ago and had a blast playing it. Now you can get a copy for yourself by pitching in to their Kickstarter campaign.

This is what the common pool of cards looks like when it's all set up. Players draw from this pool throughout the game and replenish it as needed.

Hey Cutie Pledge Levels and Stretch Goals

This particular Kickstarter campaign isn't being overly ambitious with its funding goals. It's not too complex of a game, and the lack of a bunch of physical props or hundreds of cards really helps keep the price down. Heck, you can grab a copy of the game for $20 if you're fast enough!

Hey Cutie Stretch Goals

Pet Llama Card — $15,000

At $15,000, One Method Monkey will add a "Pet Llama" card to the game. Reportedly, this will make players "hella cute."

Additional Stretch Goals — $19,000+

More Stretch Goals will release as the campaign progresses and raises more funding.

This will be the second Kickstarter campaign for One Method Monkey. Their previous campaign for Hero's Crossing was successfully funded and delivered. The campaign for Hey Cutie sits at $3,169 of its $13,000 goal with 24 days to go.

I had a ton of fun playing Hey Cutie, and I think you will, too. Dating sims are interesting games, and I think One Method Monkey has a solid conversion of the experience to tabletop games. If you'd like to get your hands on this game, you should pop on over to the Hey Cutie Kickstarter right now and grab it while you can. The campaign ends on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 11:58AM EDT.
