SugarMill (developed by Aatlantis Studios) is a city-building game set in the Carribean. Players build a town from the ground up in an attempt to survive in isolation. You can grow food to survive appropriate to the Carribean such as beans, bananas, coffee beans, and cacao. You'll have to build storehouses to keep all of your goods somewhere and the volume of products will have different limitations; a stated example in an older dev log is 100 kg of wood will take up as much space as 1,000 kg of gunpowder.

Villagers will take on one of nine professions including Builders and Farmers, and eventually you'll be able to build a port to trade with the outside world. A successful town will also attract the attention of pirates looking to make a quick buck so you will also have to invest in defenses to ward them off. If the risk of pirates gets too high, you'll lose the game as a result of the attack.

Joshua Snethlage of Mixed Media Sound will be composing 60 minutes of original music for the game as well as all of the sound effects. SugarMill will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux on its release. The developer is nonetheless considering other platforms. The sole developer of the game has completed his college education and incorporated Aatlantis Studios as a company following nearly two years of development. He'll be spending the next 14 weeks finishing up development, killing bugs, implementing Steam Integration (such as trading cards and achievements), and promoting the game.

If you'd like to pick up SugarMill, you'll be able to grab it on Steam when it releases for PC, Mac, and Linux.
