Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
First up, as many people know by now, the official launch date for the 8th edition of Warhammer 40K has been announced by Games Workshop. Pre-orders for the new edition will go live on June 3rd with a street release date of June 17th. The release will not only contain the next edition rulebook, but also the new indexes for every faction currently in the game as well as the new Dark Imperium starter set. The new starter set will feature the Death Guard squaring off against Primaris Ultramarines. A complete listing of the products in this release wave is available via the Warhammer Community website.
Warcradle Studios has been hard at work with Wild West Exodus over the past few weeks. The beta testing for the second edition of the game is currently into its second week, and the company has settled into a solid routine of weekly updates to the core rulebook, stat cards, and faction guide. They have also announced the next model releases for both June and July. Next month will see the release of Legendary Walks Looking and the Legendary Viridian Alpha (both in resin), with the next month containing Legendary Marie Laveau in resin and K9 automata (both the attack dogs and gun dogs) in plastic. All announced releases are currently available for pre-order from the Wild West Exodus website.
Corvus Belli has teamed up with Beasts of War for their second worldwide campaign, Strikezone: Wotan. The campaign will focus on the Wotan blockade, a strategic guard over the jump gate leading from the Paradiso system into Svalarheima set up to keep Combined Army forces from penetrating deeper into the Human Sphere. The campaign will be focused on taking control of various installations and bases throughout the blockade area, with each base having its own unique mission. Just like last year’s campaign, the final result of the Strikezone: Wotan campaign will have an effect on the overall Infinity lore as well. And to make joining in the fight easier, Corvus Belli has created several army bundles for new players to take advantage of, giving them an opportunity to not only quickly assemble a fighting force, but to do so at a significant discount. The new bundles are currently selling at a whopping 50% discount from the Corvus Belli webstore until June 2nd. If you’ve been wanting to either quickly bolster your existing forces or start a new army, now is definitely the time.
Privateer Press has announced the release of the Khador Army Box for Warmachine. The army box contains a complete 50 point army allowing new players to hit the ground running in their fight for the Motherland. The army box contains Kommandant Irusk, two heavy warjacks, two infantry units with command attachments, and two solos. The Khador Army Box currently retails for $149.99 USD from the Privateer Press webstore and should be available on FLGS shelves shortly.
And finally, a bit of a somber note: Over the weekend, beloved Games Workshop and Forge World writer Alan Bligh passed away on May 26th after a brief battle with cancer. Known throughout the Warhammer 40K and Horus Heresy communities as not only a walking encyclopedia of Warhammer 40K lore, but also as a kind soul who loved sharing his passion for gaming and telling the best stories he could with his work. His death has left a very large hole in Nottingham, and in the tabletop wargaming community as a whole. He will be deeply missed.
