Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
Privateer Press has released a new video series detailing a four player Warmachine Journeyman tournament in preparation with Penny Arcade leading up to the final battle taking place at this year’s Lock & Load Gamefest taking place next month in Bellevue, WA. Jerry Holkins, Kiko Villasenor, and Erick Blandin from Penny Arcade will be fighting it out featuring the Protectorate, Khador, and Cryx as their respective factions. The videos will be available both on the Penny Arcade Twitch channel as well as the official Privateer Press YouTube channel.
In an effort to promote the newest edition of Warhammer 40,000 and give players a first-hand view of the mechanics in the new edition, the Games Workshop Twitch channel is featuring games using the new ruleset, along with going over datasheets, rules interactions, and new missions as well. As mentioned last week, the new edition is currently available for pre-order now with a release date of June 17th, 2017.
Warlord Games has announced the release of a new British Airborne starter set for Bolt Action. The box set contains 40 infantry models, 3 artillery pieces, and 9 crew models, giving players a 1,000 point force straight out of the box. The miniatures can be used as either a British or Polish force wearing mid to late war uniforms. The British Airborne starter set is currently available from the Warlord Games web store for $80 USD, and should be available on FLGS shelves very soon.
Corvus Belli has published a gaming article focusing on terrain usage in Infinity. The article briefly covers the two predominant styles in setting up Infinity tables: the European style featuring wide fire lanes and a more open layout favoring long-range sniper rifles, and the American style which focuses more on narrow fire lanes and a higher terrain density allowing for template weapons to be much more effective. New players to the game will find this very useful in creating their own tables to fight for dominance in the Human Sphere.
And finally, Steamforged Games has released another preview for the upcoming Blacksmith’s Guild for Guild Ball, this time focusing on Anvil, a Master Blacksmith for the team. This article discusses some of the synergy the players have with each other to help boost some of their weaker attributes. “While the Iron is Hot”, for example, is a character play allowing players within 6” of Anvil to immediately make a 2” Dodge towards a chosen goal-post allowing for a more rapid response for either offense or defense. A more detailed look at Anvil is available on the Steamforged Games website.
