Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
As most people are aware, Games Workshop released the newest edition of their flagship game Warhammer 40K over the weekend. As promised, the rules have been released for free on the Warhammer Community website in multiple languages. The Battle Primer contains all the rules required to start fighting in the grim darkness of the far future. It does not contain any missions or datasheets for the various armies, which are sold separately. The company has also released an FAQ covering various issues and questions the player base has brought up.
Not to be outdone, Forge World has several new releases as well. The company has released a series of Imperial Armour – Index books providing updated datasheets for its models with the new edition of Warhammer 40K. Forge World is also releasing the Orcland Raiders team for Blood Bowl consisting of plastic Gouged Eye players and a resin parts kit consisting of new heads, arms, and shoulder pads. And rounding out this release wave is the Doom Bowl neoprene gaming mat. Perfectly sized for a Blood Bowl pitch, the new gaming mat is easy to store and doesn’t warp or develop folds while in storage. All releases have an expected shipping date of June 23rd.
Not to be outdone, Privateer Press had several major announcements over the last week. The company has decided a change is in order regarding their No Quarter magazine. The magazine will be retired in July after issue 73 and replaced with a bi-monthly version called No Quarter Prime starting in September of this year. Citing the content circulation delays involved in using both print and digital media, the company will not only be revamping the magazine but will also cease producing Command books (the Force books for each faction will remain unchanged) after the release of the Skorne Command book. The content from the Command books will instead come from No Quarter Prime. The complete press release regarding the changes is available from the Privateer Press website.
Additionally, the company announced its September release wave, focusing on the newest Hordes faction, the Grymkin. First announced in February of this year, the newest faction draws heavily from the country folklore of the Iron Kingdoms and consists of what appears to be a rather motley assortment of models at first glance without a great deal tying them all together visually. The lore behind the Grymkin, however, does an excellent job of doing just that and providing a deeper look into the world of the Iron Kingdoms.

French boutique miniature company Raging Heroes recently posted their monthly Kickstarter update, featuring new images of some of the upcoming Lust Elves miniatures, particularly the incredibly creepy-looking Centaurs and the towering Avatar of Shaah. Even with the miniatures rather quickly assembled without a great deal of trimming and cleaning, they look amazingly horrifying. The update also contains the first teaser image for the upcoming WarStages terrain Kickstarter. A campaign launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, however judging from what we’ve seen thus far from the company, the results will be top-notch.
And finally, Warcradle Studios is still going full-force with the Wild West Exodus beta testing. The latest edition of the beta rules was released on June 14th with an updated Faction Guide following the next day. Sticking with their current schedule of rules and stat card updates on Mondays and Faction Guide updates on Wednesdays (GMT, obviously) the company is doing an excellent job listening to player feedback and incorporating them into the game itself. The newest Faction Guide includes the Viridian Clade and Quantril’s Raiders themed poses for the Watchers and Outlaws respectively. As of this writing, the unit cards have yet to be updated, but Warcradle staff have assured us the update containing several new Viridian units for the Watchers will be included in this week’s update.
