Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
This time of year is typically filled with retrospectives of the last year and plans for the upcoming year, and Games Workshop is no exception. The company recently posted a video going through the various releases from 2016, along with a small preview of what’s to come in 2017. For those of you who have been waiting for many years for a certain army to get a plastic update, skip to 5:39 and pause to get a glimpse of what’s to come in 2017.
The company also announced the upcoming release of Gangs of Commoragh, a new boxed game focused on gangs of Hellions and packs of Reaver jetbikes fight for control of the slums and skylines of the Dark City. Not only is this the first Warhammer 40,000 boxed game focusing solely on a single xenos race, but it’s also the first boxed game that will come with its own set of papercraft terrain as well. At the time of this writing, there is no set date for the release or pre-orders for the game, though it is expected to be available for pre-order on January 7th.
Warcradle Studios has announced a contest, giving away ten copies of the hardback Wild West Exodus rulebook. While the rules are available for free from the game’s website, the hardback version also contains the extensive lore and backstory for the game, along with ten additional narrative scenarios as well. To enter, simply share the promo image on Facebook using the #wwxrules hashtag and tag @wildwestexodus. The contest is scheduled to end on January 6th.
Corvus Belli announced their Infinity releases for December 2016. The USAriadna Unknown Ranger, Yu Jing Hsien Warriors, Haqqislam Murabid Tuaregs, ALEPH Posthuman 2G proxies, and the Nomad Bakunin Jurisdictional Command starter pack. The releases will be available for purchase from the Corvus Belli web store towards the end of this month, and available at your FLGS shortly thereafter.
Mantic Games posted their own 2016 retrospective, discussing the various ups and downs faced with their various games. Kings of War, for example, was hit with several price hikes that the company is working on getting lowered again. The company also took the opportunity to announce the Kings of War global campaign coming this summer. The retrospective also covers the launch of The Walking Dead: All Out War and the retail release of Warpath coming in April.
And finally, Warlord Games has announced an after-Christmas sale on their webstore with several major discounts available. For example, Terminator Genisys - The War Against The Machines normally retails for $112 USD is now available for only $32 USD. Several sprues for Bolt Action are on sale as well, along with the starter set for Beyond the Gates of Antares and Pike and Shotte.
