Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
First up is Games Workshop’s re-release of the old Island of Blood boxed set from Warhammer Fantasy Battles, renamed Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Spire of Dawn. The boxed set pits the Skaven against a force of Aelves and includes 74 miniatures 2 warscroll battalions and 2 pitched battle profiles. The boxed set also contains both round and square bases depending on players’ personal preference. Pre-orders began on Saturday and at the time of writing is currently out of stock, but should be available again very soon.
Warlord Games has been rather busy this last week with plenty of releases for their line of games. The Soviet T-34/ZP and the British Cromwell tank are currently available for purchase now to fit your weird WW2 needs. For those of you who prefer games more grounded in reality, Warlord Games now has .PDF versions of the main rulebooks for both Bolt Action and Hail Casear available from their webstore, along with the Armies of Germany book for Bolt Action as well.
Knight Models has several new releases for its DC-themed Batman Miniature Game. This release wave contains a more classic style of Batman and Robin, Lex Luthor, Black Adam, Reaper, Aaron Cash, a group of thugs for Mr. Freeze and a new template set to assist in the bookkeeping endemic to just about every miniature game on the market. This release wave is currently available from the Knight Models web store now, or at your FLGS.
Privateer Press has announced their releases for March, with a focus on the Legion of Everblight for Hordes and Cygnar for Warmachine. Legion players will be getting their command book that month, along with Fyanna, the Torment of Everblight, Kallas, Devastation of Everblight and Azreael. Cygnar players can expect to see their command book in March as well, along with Captain Allison Jakes, Caine’s Hellsingers, and Brickhouse, a new warjack belonging to Major Beth Maddox from the Cygnar starter box.
And finally, Warcradle Studios has been rather busy with their recent acquisition of Wild West Exodus. Not only have they released 3D render previews for the Legendary versions of both Walks Looking and the upcoming Rami Niume, the company has also updated the unit cards to bring them in line with the most recent FAQ updates and added several additions to the mix. Many of the Holy Order of Man units, for example, now have the Thanatosis Aura special rule, giving them a mystic shield that functions much like the Xenoshields used by the Watchers. The stat card update also introduced a small handful of new units as well, including Bass Reeves for the Lawmen, a longtime favorite from the players based on a historical figure from America’s frontierin video on their Facebook page.
