Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
Games Workshop has surprised practically everyone this past week with two major announcements. Earlier this month, the company released a short teaser video without any real explanation. Theories ranged anywhere from a new faction to official tournament rules to a new expansion. They all proved to be wrong, however, as the trailer was created to herald the upcoming release of the much-loved skirmish game Necromunda. The game is currently set to release with two gangs at launch (Clan Escher and House Goliath) cast in multi-part plastic. No release date for the game has been set as of this writing.
The other announcement is the release of the next Primarch for Warhammer 40K. Mortarion, Primarch of the Death Guard, was announced last week while also discussing the results of the week’s global Fate of Konor campaign. The new model is currently set to release at some point in September, though no specifics on a date or price have been released as of this writing.

The pre-order wave also contains a series of starter sets for the Warrior Nation, Enlightened, Lawmen, Union, and Confederate Rebellion. The starter sets come in two flavors: a basic posse set for the faction in question, or the basic posse set bundled with a small rulebook, markers, templates, and action cards. Pre-orders for the new Gunfight at Red Oak two-player starter set featuring the Lawmen and Outlaws. A separate starter box containing just the rules, dice, templates, markers, and action cards is also available for pre-order. All box sets in this release wave have a release date of September 30th.
Privateer Press has released the next wave of Grymkin miniatures for Hordes. The King of Nothing, Cage Rager heavy warbeast, Dread Rots infantry, and Neigh Slayers were released on August 9th and should be hitting FLGS shelves any day now. The next release wave slated for August 23rd will contain The Dreamer and Phantasms warlock, Rattler light warbeast, Gorehound light warbeast, Twilight Sisters infantry, and the Trapperkin solo.
And finally, Steamforged Games released a Q&A session from the Guild Ball British Championship tournament over the weekend via their Twitch channel with several exciting tidbits of information. The Farmers and Blacksmiths Guild boxes will be getting their six player team boxes next, with the first set scheduled for release on Q1 2018. A new player for the Blacksmiths Guild, Alloy, was also briefly shown and described as an “assassin or thug”. The Farmers will also be getting two new players in Fallow, a pragmatic and defensive player for the team and Ploughman, a utility character who will improve the performance of other planters on the field.
