The final game of the PlayStation Indies presentation has been revealed and it's... a Worms Battle Royale game? Yep, that's right — Worms Rumble has been revealed as the last of the nine new indies revealed for PlayStation consoles today.

If you are somehow unfamiliar with the Worms franchise, it has been around for quite a while and operates on a pretty simple premise. You are a worm. There are other worms on the opposing side. Everyone has an arsenal that would make a Navy Seal blush. Everyone keeps shooting each other until one side wins.
What makes the Worms games particularly challenging is the strong focus on artillery and properly aiming your weapons. Previous games have used turn-based gameplay, but Worms Rumble is going to be played out in real-time.
Players will have the option of playing a Deathmatch game mode if they like to keep their battles a little more intimate. If you're keen on experiencing some insane chaos, however, you can opt to hop into a 32-player Battle Royale game mode as noted in the PlayStation Blog. Best of all, this new Worms game will have Cross-Play, so you likely won't have a shortage of people to play against no matter what platform you get it on.
When is the Worms Rumble Release Date?
I've got to say, I certainly didn't expect to see Worms Rumble revealed as one of the upcoming PlayStation indies, nevermind as a game. Still, it certainly makes sense for the franchise as a whole. When will you be able to get it?
Unfortunately, the developers declined to announce a specific release date. That said, we do know that it's going to be launching sometime later in 2020. For now, you can add Worms Rumble to your wishlist on Steam.
Worms Rumble closes out the nine PlayStation Indies revealed today. Don't forget to check out the other releases — F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, Maquette, Creaks, Where The Heart Is, Heavenly Bodies, Recompile, Carto, and Haven are all promising to bring a ton of new indie content to the PS4 and PS5 in the coming months and years.
