Tank battling MMO World of Tanks is getting a tabletop miniatures game. It'll be available this September and will come with codes that tie in to the main game. Publishing duties are being handled by tabletop gaming mainstay Gale Force Nine.

How does the World of Tanks miniatures game work?

Details on the full gameplay systems of the World of Tanks miniatures game are pretty scant right now. Gale Force Nine describes it as an "easy to learn quick-play game" in which you'll take control of a unit of tanks in order to destroy your opponent and secure victory. Each tank can be upgraded with improved crew, modules, and other types of upgrade. The game will also take terrain into account and will, of course, feature plenty of explosive tank battles (although rendered entirely in miniature form).

The World of Tanks miniatures game will feature a detailed rulebook and card mechanics.

The World of Tanks miniatures game will come complete with a Starter Set, which will contain 4 tanks to get players started. Naturally, you'll also find custom dice, tank cards, terrain and tokens, and all the necessary things you need to play the game in the Starter Set. You'll also be able to buy extra booster packs, which will contain more tanks and cards.

At launch, the World of Tanks miniatures game will offer four tanks: the Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. H model, the Cromwell, the M4 Sherman, and the T-34. Also coming in September as part of the miniatures game's Wave 1 are four more tanks: the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G, Valentine, M3 Lee, and SU-100 tanks. Each tank blister will also include a Tank Card, as well as 5 crew, module, and upgrade cards.

What are World of Tanks miniatures bonus codes?

According to the launch date announcement, the World of Tanks miniatures game will come complete with bonus codes for use within World of Tanks itself. It's not entirely clear whether or not you can use these codes in the mobile version World of Tanks Blitz (which is also available on Steam) or in the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of the game. We've reached out to World of Tanks developer Wargaming for more info on this aspect of the miniatures game, as well as to find out what form the in-game content bonuses will take. For now, you can pre-order the World of Tanks minis game right here if you're interested.
