Bungie is a company that does a downright excellent job at making games. From Marathon to Halo 3, we have had the ability to play games that are legends in the gaming community, and really changed the industry in many ways. With that said, ever since Bungie stepped away from Microsoft back in 2007, and then Halo after the release of Halo: Reach, gamers have been waiting for what is surely going to be the next big game. After many teases, questions, and speculation, we finally were offered some details about their all new game, Destiny. Thanks to Bungie's track record, this brand new IP is definitely one of the most anticipated games of 2014!

Destiny Gameplay World

For those that don't much about the all-new game, it will be an action role-playing/first person shooter game, taking place in an open world with a rich backstory and lore. As we saw with the Halo series, Bungie does an incredible job with lore and story, and Destiny has created a rich history for the game to draw on. Essentially, Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a post-apocalyptic setting following a prosperous period of exploration, peace and technological advancement known as the Golden Age. The huge object you see in pictures, called "The Traveler", is the reason that humankind was saved, and its presence allows the City on Earth to have Guardians with special abilities. As humans try and re-populate after "The Collapse", they discover that hostile aliens have taken over many of their old colonies and have begun to attempt to trespass into the City. You play the role of a Guardian of the City, in one of three races (Humans, Awoken, Exo)  and one of three classes (Hunter, Warlock, Titans). Each class and race will give the player certain abilities and skills, giving the game an action-RPG feel, much like the Borderlands series.

Destiny Classes

There's a lot of reasons to really anticipate and be excited for this all new game from Bungie. First off, players will get a whole new universe (namely our solar system) to explore and learn about, offering brand new adventures and awesome stories and lore to be a part of. Secondly, we learned how much fun grouping up with friends to play through a first person shooter such as Borderlands, and Destiny is giving us that great multiplayer experience as well as building on it to make it more enjoyable in a way that only Bungie can. There has also been talk of an addition of social media features, such as an ever-changing world that keeps you connected to your friends and other players even while offline.  Bungie is even planning on adding a mobile phone app that will allow you to learn of new quests and keep up with your friends! With some incredibly awesome features such as epic abilities, bountiful guns, and huge World Events, you should be incredibly excited to get your hands on this game.

As a huge fan of Bungie and the Halo franchise, I am personally very excited about this new title, especially having a love for shooters and role-playing games! After watching the E3 presentation last year (See trailer above), it only made both myself and gamers around the world even more excited for the potential of this game. With both cooperative and competitive game modes that are powered by a new engine that is built on the one that powered the Halo matchmaking, we're guaranteed to have an epic experience when it comes to playing with others. As someone who has always enjoyed co-op in games like Halo, Gears of War, Borderlands, and many other games, the multiplayer of Destiny is incredibly appealing.

Here's what you need to know about Destiny, which releases on September 9, 2014! With the ability to play with a few friends, as well as world events that will have you participating with various numbers of other players in real time, much like Rift and Defiance. Many players will choose to play alone, and experience the game all by themselves, and will enjoy the game just as much too, however! With planets to explore, enemies to defeat, a world to learn about, and epic adventures, every gamer should be looking to play Destiny in September!
