Shoestring Gaming - free games and plenty of Star Wars

Gaming article by Andrew Stretch on Thursday, April 30, 2015 - 11:00

Welcome to Shoestring gaming, a weekly segment where I try to help you get some of the best deals across the Internet so that you're able to keep finding new great games while also maintaining your budget. This week, there are some fantastic deals from all over the web with some good Star Wars deals in lead up to the 4th of May and a couple of free games from some different places.

Firstly there is a big Star Wars sale at GoG, but if you would like to learn more about this specifically then I recommend you head over to Mark Richard's article about all of the different Star Wars bundles that you are able to pick up right now.

May the 4th be with you
Great sales deals until Star Wars day!

Next if we move on to Steam who is doing a "May the 4th be with you" sale up until 5/6 so you can get your fill of all that Star Wars goodness with up to 77% off not only single games but bundles as well. Some of these bundles include the Star Wars Collection with 14 games, the X-Wing bundle with all the x-wing games, the Lucasarts Jedi Knight bundle and many more games all the way down to pinball tables for Pinball FX2.

Relive classic nostalgia in this new game while preparing for even more to come!

If you don't want to be spending any money at all this week though, then there are also two free games that you can get. The first of the two free games is called Jet Gunnera 2D platformer that plays a lot like classic side-scrolling shooters like Megaman. Not only does this game have 6 stages, plenty of weapons and challenges, but there is also plenty of new content in the pipeline for it.

Ultima 8
Face the world of Pagan in the 8th installment of the Ultima franchise!

Finally the last free game is the new Origin On the house, Ultima 8 Gold Edition. In Ultima 8, you have been banished to the world of Pagan. In the eighth installment, the Ultima series takes a much darker twist while maintaining its traditional RPG roots.

What do you think of this weeks selection of games? Are there any games from this that you're planning on getting?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
