You can now preview FIFA 21 FUT Packs thanks to the launch of the " Preview Packs" feature for FIFA Ultimate Team earlier today — but only for a limited time.
FIFA 21 has a loot box system like many other modern sports games. FIFA 21 FUT packs allow you to purchase a batch of players for the FIFA Ultimate Team game mode, but Electronic Arts is trying something a little different for the "Festival of Futball" by allowing you to see what's inside the pack before you buy it.
How the FIFA 21 FUT Packs Preview Works
Starting today (and for the remainder of the Festival of Futball), all FIFA 21 FUT Packs available for purchase will be "Preview Packs." The names of these packs will be pretty similar to the ones you've already seen with one key difference: you can actually look at their contents before making a purchase.
Once you're in the FIFA 21 store, you can look at the contents of any of the available packs and decide whether or not to buy them. There is one downside of this new feature, though — it won't tell you whether or not you have any duplicates.
What happens if you decide you don't want to buy a pack, though? That's where the catch comes in: you're going to have to wait. If you don't like what's inside one of your packs, you'll have to kill time until a lengthy refresh timer (shown as 17 hours, 21 minutes in one of the images in today's announcement) expires.
Unfortunately, this feature will only be available for the Festival of Futball which lasts until July 16, 2021. EA says that the old style of FIFA 21 FUT Packs will return after this event and it's unclear if or when Preview Packs will return in the future. You can jump into the game right now by buying FIFA 21 for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent and you can get FIFA 21 at a pretty nice 67% discount on Steam.
