Today, Playtonic Games announced that Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, the sequel to Yooka-Laylee, is available to pre-order today and will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 8th, 2019.
"We’re excited to announce we are just a few weeks away from sending Yooka and Laylee off onto their next adventure against Capital B, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair takes the 2D platforming genre, mixes it up with a 3D world to explore and injects it with the unique humour that Playtonic is known for. Bringing Tonics back in all new flavours (they’re now combinable!) will give the community millions of ways to play the game and we can’t wait to see the results online!"
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair sees the duo unite in order to thwart the plans of Capital B, who has taken members of Queen Phoebee's Royal Beettalion Guard. To do so, Yooka and Laylee will have to conquer the Impossible Lair.
The latest Yooka-Laylee title will feature Tonics, the potions that players first used in the original Yooka-Laylee. There will be more then 60 Tonics for players to collect and use, giving players a variety of ways to play the game. These include not only gameplay changes such as infinite rolling, super speed, and harder enemies, but environmental and visual effects.
For those who pre-order, players will have access to Trowzer's Top Tonic Pack, which will include four exclusive Tonics such as the Largee Head tonic, which will give Laylee a "comically oversized" head, a Glow Worm tonic that will make Yooka and Laylee glow, a D.I.S.C.O. Tonic will turn every level into a "platforming party", and the Yooka 64 Tonic, a retro-themed tonic.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be available for $24.99 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC for $29.99 on October 8.
