404 Game Re:Set Virtua Cop

Today Sega released another trailer of its upcoming mobile game 404 Game Re:Set, directed by NieR creator Yoko Taro.

The trailer introduces another of the characters who will be playable in the game, Virtua Cop. Like Out Run, and After Burner, for whom we already saw trailers, she's basically the waifu version of the Virtua Cop franchise.

Her voice actress is Aoi Yuki, whom you may know for her roles as Futaba in Persona 5, Pascal in NieR: Automata, Renne Bright in The Lend of Heroes series, Lumine in Genshin Impact, Lysithea in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Yuuki in the Sword Art Online series, and many more.

If you're familiar with Japanese games and media, this concept probably will be familiar to you. Japan's pop culture has brought us catgirls, shipgirls, airplane girls, horsegirls, game console girls... and now we get video game girls. With Yoko Taro's name on the box (figuratively, since this game won't have a box) are you really surprised?

You can check out the trailer below.

If you're unfamiliar with 404 Game Re:Set, also known as Error Game Reset, it's an upcoming mobile JRPG born of a partnership between Sega and Yoko Taro announced a few days ago after a mysterious tease portraying a dystopian version of the world.

It's for iOS and Android and free-to-play, which means that it also comes with the inevitable gacha, which explains why Sega is taking its beloved franchises like Out RunAfter BurnerVirtua Cop, and Virtua Fighter, and turning them into waifus you can unlock.

They will form a resistance against a distorted world in which Sega itself has taken over. It's Yoko Taro all right. At the moment, a western release for this game has not been announced. We'll see if Sega will decide to bring it over down the line.
