404 Game Re:Set After Burner

Today Sega released another trailer of the upcoming mobile JRPG 404 Game Re:Set, which carries the name of NieR: Automata creator Yoko Taro.

The trailer introduces another of the characters who you'll meet in the game, After Burner, and like Out Run, who we saw a few days ago, she's basically the waifu version of the After Burner series.

She's voiced by Akari Kito, who we just heard as Céline in Fire Emblem Engage on top of her roles as Provie in River City Girls 2, Shoka Sakurane in Neo: The World Ends With You, Barbara in Genshin Impact, and more.

If you're familiar with Japan, this concept probably won't be too foreign for you. The nation's rich pop culture created catgirls, shipgirls, airplane girls, horsegirls, game console girls... and now we have video game girls. It's par for the course, especially when Yoko Taro is involved.

You can check out the trailer below.

If you're unfamiliar with 404 Game Re:Set, also known as Error Game Reset, it's an upcoming mobile JRPG born of a partnership between Sega and Yoko Taro announced a few days ago after a mysterious tease.

It's for iOS and Android and free-to-play, which means that it also comes with the inevitable gacha, which explains why Sega is taking its beloved franchises like Out Run, After Burner, Virtua Cop, and Virtua Fighter, and turning them into waifus you can unlock.

They will form a resistance against a distorted world in which Sega itself has taken over. It's Yoko Taro all right. At the moment, a western release for this game has not been announced. We'll see if Sega will decide to bring it over down the line.
