Yahoo! Answers is closing down for good next month, but it will live on forever as a mod for The Typing of the Dead: Overkill. No, really.

Yahoo! Answers is shutting down for good in May 2021, but it will live on forever as a very strange Typing of the Dead: Overkill mod on Steam, perfectly preserving some of the Internet's dumbest questions as challenges in the game.

Some of you younger folks might not know, but Yahoo! was once as dominant as Google is today. Part of its dominance was due to the wide array of services it offered, one of which was something called "Yahoo! Answers."

Yahoo! Answers is best compared to something like Quora: anyone can sign up for an account, ask a question, and get it answered. It seems simple enough in practice, but this question-and-answer service also happened to be a (sometimes) unintentional source of comedy, simply because many of the questions were just so gosh-darn stupid.

Yes, the platform certainly has sensible questions such as "Should i buy a brand new mazda or a pre-owned bmw or lexus?" and there are plenty of entirely normal questions like that. There are also, however, countless trolls, comedians, or downright idiots that ask some pretty amusing questions. Here are some of the funnier ones just from today:

The fun will soon be coming to an end, though — Yahoo! Answers is shutting down for good on May 4, 2021. The archives are being deleted, too, so anyone who wants to save the best content from the site is going to have to archive it. One modder has done exactly that, making one of the strangest mods I've ever seen to date.

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill – Yahoo! Answers Mod is Hilariously Weird

Two relatively new Steam users going by Angelica and Sharksplosion have created The Typing of the Dead: Overkill "RIP Yahoo! Answers" mod. To understand this mod, however, you'll first have to understand the game.

Typing of the Dead: Overkill is a meme-worthy sequel to Typing of the Dead, a game that ostensibly teaches typing in the strangest way. Based on the lightgun game The House of the DeadThe Typing of the Dead has your hero fighting zombies by typing out words or sentences instead of, you know, shooting themThe Typing of the Dead had its own cult following for quite some time, so much so that it got a sequel in 2013.

This mod doesn't really change the gameplay or anything; it simply swaps out some of the text prompts with a collection of amusing questions from Yahoo!'s soon-to-be-closed service. These include such philosophical quandaries as "I can't stop sinning?" and "What does Bigfoot want?" — truly, questions from the finest minds of our age.

You can download the RIP Yahoo! Answers mod for The Typing of the Dead: Overkill on the Steam workshop. You will, of course, need a copy of the game on Steam; you can buy The Typing of the Dead: Overkill on Steam for $19.99 or your regional equivalent.

What's your favorite dumb question from Yahoo! Answers? Would you want to see a new The Typing of the Dead game come out in the future?
