Xbox Series S|X Pre-Orders Cause Queuing And Store Deceitfulness

With the Xbox Series S/X pre-orders starting today, you'd think it would be a little more reasonable after the disaster that was the PlayStation 5 pre-order launch. Apparently not.

Retailers all over the place are having their own methods of keeping up with enthusiastic gamers, such as GAME in the UK, which has added a £10 delivery charge to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X pre-orders. Interestingly, the charge was added after the PS5 pre-orders and before the Xbox Series S/X pre-orders. The charge is also being applied if you were to go pick up the console in-store, as reported by Eurogamer.

Another method is with retailers such as Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada and Gamestop in the US, where both currently have a digital waiting room for Xbox Series S/X pre-orders. It's essentially a digital queue, and one has to wonder why Microsoft wouldn't send enough consoles to supply the overwhelming demand, but I'm just a schmuck writing articles that isn't making any important decisions.

If you want to get an Xbox Series S/X today, I'd definitely hurry up, because it looks like they're going out of stock quickly. Everyone else should just go to the Winchester, grab a pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.

Quick Take

You'd think that Microsoft would want to avoid the shenanigans that arose during the PS5 pre-order process by providing more consoles to retailers, but hey, they can do whatever they want I guess. It's not like I'm surprised or anything, because whether it's a RTX 3080 or PlayStation 5, no one can launch a product properly these days. I guess I'm just one of those crazy people that think that retailers and publishers alike should do their jobs properly without scalping or bamboozling their audience, but that's fine. I'll be the old guy that yells at clouds.
