The Xbox Live servers are having some serious issues. Issues with Xbox Live Core Services are a major downer for players who want to enjoy their new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.

If you've been living under a rock, you might have missed the fact that today is the big day that the Xbox Series X and S are launching around the world. Stores are selling what limited stock they have and customers are receiving their precious packages (if they haven't been delayed, that is).

Things have been a little chaotic for the Xbox Series X launch as one might expect, but things have apparently gotten a little too crazy — the Xbox Live servers are down, impacting the ability of players to use Microsoft's online services for multiplayer and social features.

Why Are Xbox Live Servers Down? When Will It Be Fixed?

Microsoft has not explained why Xbox Live servers are down just yet, although they are certainly aware of the problem and are currently working on getting everything working again.

"We're aware that users are currently unable to sign into Xbox Live on various platforms," Xbox Support said in a tweet. "The right teams are looking into the issue and working on a fix. We'll provide updates here on our Twitter, or on our status [page.]"

Presumably, the reason is clear: a lot of people are trying to log into Xbox Live right now. This may be compounded with the release of Destiny 2 on Xbox Game Pass; that game has also had a major update today and has been dealing with some server troubles of its own today.,

For now, anxious players can keep an eye on @XboxSupport and the Xbox Live servers status page for the most up-to-date information on the situation.
