The Xbox Games with Gold April 2023 lineup has been revealed. As usual, you're getting two games, both of which are playable on either Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. There's a racing game from a beloved sci-fi series to get stuck into, and when you're tired of the high-octane action, you can relax with an artsy puzzle-platformer.
Last month's Games with Gold lineup featured Peaky Blinder tactical action and spacefaring co-op adventures, and this month, the space theme continues with Star Wars Episode I Racer. This classic has been remastered by Star Wars custodian Aspyr, who've spruced it up with achievements, modern controls, and more. Take a speeder down memory lane when this one arrives on Games with Gold on May 1st. You'll have until May 31st to download it.
Your second Games with Gold game next month is Hoa, which joins the service on May 16th. It's a peaceful, sedate puzzle-platformer inspired by mythology and featuring a beautiful hand-painted art style. You are the titular Hoa, a fairy who comes back to her homeland in order to reinvigorate it and restore balance. After the thrills of Episode I Racer, Hoa should provide the perfect counterpoint. It'll stick around until June 15th.
To recap: Star Wars Episode I Racer joins Xbox Games with Gold on May 1st and departs on May 31st, while Hoa is added to the service on May 16th and leaves on June 15th. With regards to last month's offerings, you've still just about got time to grab Out of Space: Couch Edition, which leaves on April 30th. Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is sticking around for a little longer; you've got until May 15th to grab that one.
As a reminder, Games with Gold comes as part of an Xbox Live Gold membership, so you can download the two games for May at no extra cost if you're a subscriber. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes Xbox Live Gold, so if you're an Ultimate subscriber, these games make a nice little extra on top of your Game Pass sub. Plus, with Activision games probably not making their way to Game Pass anytime soon, you might as well give these a look, eh?
