The Xbox Games With Gold January lineup

The Xbox Games With Gold January lineup has been officially revealed by Microsoft. A prominent leaker originally revealed the lineup earlier today, but it's now been confirmed. There's plenty for retro shooter fans to sink their teeth into in January, and there's an RPG to check out too.

What is the Xbox Games With Gold January lineup?

The Xbox Games With Gold January lineup was originally leaked by billbil-kun (note: post is in French), who has a strong track record when it comes to leaking PS Plus and Games With Gold information. That leak was subsequently confirmed by Microsoft. You're getting four games in this haul, all of which are playable on either Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One. Here's your Xbox Games With Gold January lineup.

Aground (January 16th-February 16th)

Mining and crafting RPG Aground, which could be part of the Xbox Games With Gold January lineup

This mining and crafting RPG (we know what you're thinking) arrived on Xbox consoles in early 2021, after originally being set to launch in summer 2020. It's playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and presents a vast world for players to explore. If you love Terraria but wish it was a little more structured, you'll want to give this one a look.

NeuroVoider (January 1st-January 31st)

NeuroVoider is described by its developers as a twin-stick shooter RPG in which you must battle a horde of robots on your way to face the titular NeuroVoider. Along the way, you can gather loot from your defeated foes to make you stronger. You can tackle this one in four-player co-op as well.

Radiant Silvergun (January 1st-January 16th)

Radiant Silvergun, one of the Xbox Games With Gold January games

Remastered by developer Treasure, Radiant Silvergun makes its triumphant return on the Xbox ecosystem. It's a classic top-down shooter from the Sega Saturn days, so if you love the screen being full of more bullets than you'll ever have hot meals, this is the one for you.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene (January 16th-January 31st)

The third retro-style shooter up for grabs with Xbox Games With Gold in January is Space Invaders Infinity Gene, a 2009 rework of the classic arcade game that introduces new elements based on the theme of evolution. You'll need your wits about you to survive an ever-evolving alien threat.

These are your four Xbox Games With Gold titles for January. Friendly reminder that you've still got time to grab three of the Xbox Games With Gold December lineup; you've missed your chance at Orcs Must Die!, unfortunately, but there are still three up for grabs. Here are the games you can still get, as well as when they're departing the service.

  • The Escapists 2 (leaves on December 31st)
  • Tropico 5 (leaves on January 15th)
  • Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (leaves on December 31st)

If you want to download any of the Xbox Games With Gold lineup, you'll need either an Xbox Live Gold subscription or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate sub, which packs in Live Gold in addition to Xbox Game Pass. As far as we're concerned, if you regularly play games on your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, then Game Pass Ultimate is pretty much a must-have. It costs $14.99 a month.
