Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry "MajorNelson" Hryb has announced on Twitter the May Xbox Games With Gold lineup of games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will receive. Four games will be available to subscribers between May 1-31, though as usual with the Games With Gold package, each game has a different time limit for subscribers to download before the offer expires. Here's a rundown over the titles announced and their offer time limits.
- Marooners (May 1-31): This is a wild mix of party couch games, an action-adventure romp with lots of running, jumping and slapping. Also dubbed a switcheroo chaos, with action jumps between multiple intense minigames. You can pick your Marooner from a host of quirky characters to unlock and play as, with 70+ hilarious weapons to unlock and use. If you die, your character returns as a ghost to haunt your friends.
- The Golf Club 2019 (May 16-June 15): Maybe your tastes are more mature and you'd rather spoil a good walk with some golf gameplay, in which case you should watch out for this year's iteration of The Golf Club franchise. You'll have plenty of holes to fill with balls by taking up the PGA TOUR's FedExCup challenge. A PGA TOUR Career mode is a good option if you need more gaming investment in the long-term. Famous courses such as TPC Boston and TPC Sawgrass are available to explore.
- Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon (May 1-15, Xbox 360 Backward Compatible): If you're in the mood to slay some giant alien insects instead, say no more. As thousands of giant alien insects once again plot to ravage Earth, only you, a soldier in the Earth Defense Force can stop them. You must destroy them at all costs, even if it means turning entire city blocks into rubble. It's a raw hardcore shooter spree that's the signature of the B-movie franchise. It includes a 3-player online co-op multiplayer and 6 player survival modes, plus over 300 weapons to collect.
- Comic Jumper (May 16-31, Xbox 360 Backward Compatible): Then there's another quirky action-adventure to keep Marooners company, where you'll play as Captain Smiley, a comic book hero with an emoji for a head, whose comic book failed. He's forced to do work-for-hire by leaping into other comic books to fix their problems. From the creators of Splosion Man and The Maw, this might be a rollicking good time with plenty of silliness and questionable antics.
An Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to participate in the Games With Gold offers. You can choose between three subscription options: $9.99 monthly, $24.99 for three months, or $59.99 for a full year. You might also be interested in checking out the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which combines both the Game Pass program and Xbox Live Gold.
If you subscribe and haven't yet, you have only a few days left to get some of the April Games with Gold titles.
