Microsoft has announced which games Xbox Live Gold subscribers will receive in May as part of the Xbox One's Games With Gold program.

The news came courtesy of a video which was uploaded to the official Xbox YouTube. Four games will be made available on Games With Gold between May 1st and June 15th, although in customary Games With Gold style, each game has a different time limit for subscribers to download it before it's gone from the program. Here's a quick rundown of the Xbox One-exclusive games which were announced, along with the dates of release and expiry:

  • Super Mega Baseball 2 - May 1st-May 31st: A sequel to the critically acclaimed Super Mega Baseball, this sports sim offers deeper team and league customization than its predecessor, as well as all-new visuals. The game's availability on Xbox One coincides with its launch, which is also set for May 1st. Here's a video detailing some of the new mechanics and features fans and newcomers can expect from Super Mega Baseball 2:

  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - May 16th - June 15th: The latest numbered entry in the long-running Metal Gear franchise, The Phantom Pain allows players to take control of Big Boss in a third-person sandbox stealth adventure with base-building elements. Check out our review here.

As ever, there are also backward-compatible Xbox 360 games which all Xbox One owners will be able to download, as well as Xbox 360 owners who are subscribed to the program. Here they are:

  • Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage - May 1st - May 15th: All three of the classic Sega side-scrollers on Xbox 360, complete with achievements, new graphical options, online leaderboards and more.
  • Vanquish - May 16th - May 31st: PlatinumGames' idiosyncratic take on the third-person cover shooter. Here are TechRaptor's thoughts on the game (it's the PC version, but most of the review is for the game rather than its technical aspects)

Just like all Games With Gold titles, once the game's on your Xbox, it's yours to keep, whether you stay subscribed to the program or not. Once the time limit passes, though, your chance is gone for good, so if you're looking to snap any of these titles up, make sure you keep the dates in mind. Also, it's still not too late to grab sandbox stealth-'em-up Assassin's Creed Syndicate and brainy puzzler The Witness for your Xbox One on Games With Gold; Syndicate vanishes into the shadows on May 15th, while The Witness solves its last puzzle on the program April 30th. Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can also still grab EA's horror action title Dead Space 2 on the program. That one slithers into a nearby air vent on April 30th.

Xbox Games With Gold requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Currently, there are three subscription options available: $9.99 for one month, $24.99 for three months or $59.99 for a whole year.
