The long awaited continuation of the Crackdown series was unveiled at E3 2017 with the help of the ever amusing Terry Crews (perhaps more popularly known as the Old Spice commercial guy), in this case playing the role of a mildly eccentric Agency Commander Jaxon. Crackdown 3 will be, as longtime fans of the series may expect, an open world game where your Agent's various skills will improve as you use them as you try to save the volcano-city of New Providence from gang violence with even more violence.

For example, as Mr. Crews so enthusiastically pointed out, you and up to three friends (or up to nine other random people) will go from throwing grenades to throwing cars, dropping bombs to dropping buildings, and even being able to literally super-jump your way across the map, with your character's appearance changing accordingly (i.e. going from looking like a fairly normal looking fellow to Hulk's less green, less bulky cousin).

Thanks to a new generation of consoles, Crackdown 3 will be much more visually appealing than its predecessors, with no shortage of bright, or rather, neon colors despite the dark (figurative and literal) nature of the city that you will be fighting in. It should also be noted that the game will not be skimping out on explosions while you fight normal gun-wielding gang members, riot shield-loving enemies who apparently purchased an excessive amount of black tactical body armor, and even giant robots. As you may suspect, you won't just be fighting random street gangs either, as the "highly-secretive and exceedingly-sinister TerraNova Worldwide" company's goal of exploiting New Providence's resources puts them on a collision course with The Agency.

Fortunately for you, in addition to being able to throw cars at people, it appears as though you will get to use some excessively destructive weapons, including something that resembles a black hole gun. It wouldn't be any fun to use these weapons without seeing an effect on the city, so there will be some degree of environmental destruction as well, with at least one industrial factory being reduced to a billowing cloud of green, presumably toxic smoke in the game's debut trailer.

Crackdown 3, developed by Sumo Digital, will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title for both the Xbox One and Windows 10, with a release date schedule for November 7, 2017.
