Bandai Namco's upcoming adventure game got a new trailer and a release date yesterday.
The game, 11-11: Memories Retold, is described as a narrative adventure game set during World War I. The protagonists are Harry, a Canadian-American photographer who joins the war only to discover the realities of war on the frontlines and Kurt who is a pacifist driven by his sense of duty on the front lines.
Of particular note is the voice actors, with talented actors Elijah Wood and Sebastian Koch lending their voices to Harry and Kurt, respectively. Wood is renowned for his portrayal of Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy but has been a video game voice actor several times. His most famous role is Spyro in the Legend of Spyro series. Koch, a well known German actor, has had several television and movie roles, including parts in Bridge of Spies, Homeland, and The Life of Others. This will be his first video game voice role.
Developed by indie studios Aardman and DigixArt, 11-11: Memories Retold will feature a flowing narrative based through the eyes of its two characters. Inspired by true events, the game will explore the complexity of World War I and "confront them with the realities of war." Visually the game is designed to look like a painting come to life, with soft-pastel colors in a smudgy, impressionistic visual style. The story itself will see Harry and Kurt face the consequences of World War I, both at the front lines and at home with their loved ones as they struggle to "preserve their humanity."
11-11: Memories Retold is scheduled for release on November 8th, 2018 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
