Today Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja delivered a new trailer of their upcoming Souls-like action JRPG Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
The trailer focuses on the story, which looks and sounds as dark as you would expect from this kind of game and from what is basically the spiritual successor of the Nioh series.
We also take a look at some of the characters that we'll encounter in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. While some of them have familiar looks for those who usually play the Dynasty Warriors series, they're definitely more grounded and realistic, fitting the game's grimdark setting. And yes. I said "grimdark." There's no reason why that should apply only to Warhammer 40,000, and the developers obviously went that route with this brand new rendition of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms setting.
You can check out the trailer below and see for yourself what I mean.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on March 3, 2023. The game will also release on day one on Xbox Game Pass both on consoles and PC.
While the parallel with the Nioh series is fairly obvious, Team Ninja decided to go with something completely different this time around, while still hitting a setting near and dear to the tradition of Koei Tecmo, which has made many games set around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms mythology.
As usual from this kind of genre, we'll have to face hordes of absolutely ruthless demons (that destroyed me when I tested the game's demo at Tokyo Game Show), powerful warlords, and a conspiracy focused around an elixir that promises to grant immortality.
