The Witness

Jonathan Blow's first-person puzzler The Witness is free on the Epic Games Store for the next two weeks.

The game is part of Epic's commitment to give consumers a free game every two weeks. The last game up for grabs was supernatural adventure game Oxenfree. You've missed your chance to grab that one, unfortunately, but The Witness should more than make up for itThe Witness tasks players with exploring a massive island and solving a number of puzzles based around perspective and spatial awareness. In characteristic Jonathan Blow style, the plot is pretty vague, but puzzle fans can look forward to over 500 puzzles to solve in The Witness.

Epic also reveals the next game players can look forward to for free. In just under two weeks' time - on April 18th, to be exact - you'll be able to grab Supergiant Games' excellent Transistor. Supergiant's second effort casts players as Red, a singer who must battle a sinister robotic intelligence known only as the Process. In Transistor, players will explore the futuristic city of Cloudbank and attempt to piece together what happened to its people. If you like this one, you should also check out Supergiant's newest game Pyre, which we rather liked. Again, Transistor will become available for download via the Epic Games Store on April 18th.

You've got plenty of time to download The Witness before it returns to its regular price. You will need to create an Epic Games account (although you can use a number of connected services to do so) and you'll also need to get the Epic Games Launcher. Once that's done, simply navigate to the store page for The Witness on the launcher and hit Install. Same goes for when Transistor is free. We know the Epic Store has had its fair share of controversies recently, but hey - free games are free games, right?
