It has been announced that CD Projekt RED's mega hit The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition that they confirmed was in the works last month will release on August 30th. This will include the base game, all of the updates that have been released, as well as the expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
The release isn't a particular surprise given that CD Projekt RED has traditionally done re-releases of their game a year later with added content or fixes. In this case, unlike The Witcher or The Witcher 2 this is not an enhanced edition like those received, instead being a compilation. In some regions of the world, it is being titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, likely to comply with marketing laws in those areas.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt received a lot of praise last year for its work in the Open World RPG genre where it managed to break some new ground in world design and top of the line graphics. It received the first 10/10 here at TechRaptor in video games and received our Pick of the Year, which somehow was not included in their The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition trailer which referenced several other awards won.
The Witcher 3 was one of my favorite games from last year as well, and I'm only getting around to some of the expansion stuff recently, which managed to hold up the level of quality greatly. Overall I think its great to see this title getting a rerelease and love as it is the definitive Open World RPG on the market with its strong world building, characters and story. Things like the abandoned sites throughout were beautiful touches on it that really helped make it feel alive and it managed to outshine, in my opinion, the competition completely in Fallout 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
