Some games take ideas from others, quietly integrating them in - an aspect from here, an aspect from that game over there, a shout out to another game here and if you aren't paying attention you might not know what's happening. Others, like Windscape, instead opt to scream what their inspiration is, not just on the store pages but also within moments of seeing what the structure is.

The creation of Magic Sandbox, a one-man development team of Dennis Witte, Windscape pays homage to many of his favorite games, most particularly The Legend of Zelda series. In Windscape, you take on the role of a nameless young woman who discovers that the world is falling apart - quite literally islands are breaking apart and falling from the sky. It's up to you to leave your parents farm, and explore the islands in the sky and discover what is wrong battling enemies and solving puzzles.

When not exploring the world or talking with NPCs, you can head into the dungeons on each island which ditch exploration largely for a mixture of combat and puzzle solving, just like many dungeons in numerous Legend of Zelda games. It also features a robust, but simple crafting system to make potions, weapons and more, drawing some on more recent open world games for inspiration there. Here's a look at the trailer that they've just released showing off the beautiful world of Windscape:
