Relic Entertainment and Sega have announced Company of Heroes 3, the next game in the ongoing franchise that will take players to the Mediterranean Theater.

Company of Heroes 3 takes place in the Mediterranean Theater of World War 2 which includes Italy and Nothern Africa. It will have the largest number of launch factions ever seen in a Company of Heroes game on launch. Players will use a mix of land, sea, and air units to win victory on this deadly front. The reveal livestream on IGN had a fair amount of details about what players can expect to see in this upcoming game. That said, one should keep in mind that Company of Heroes 3 is still in pre-alpha — anything and everything can change prior to the game's launch next year.

As with previous games in the franchise, there will be both a Campaign Mode and PvP. The campaign is expected to have ten different types of skirmishes for players to experience. It will also feature a "dynamic campaign map" that uses a turn-based system somewhat similar to what we've previously seen in Dawn of War: Soulstorm.

Single-player is getting some neat extra features, too. For example, the single-player game mode will have a "Tactical Pause" system that allows you to freeze time, queue up orders for your units, and resume the action. Relic is also taking into account the reception of Company of Heroes 2, viewing the first game as the "gold standard" for this sequel moving forward.

The Company of Heroes 3 release date will be sometime in late 2022. No price has been announced, nor have the system requirements been laid out just yet.

For now, you can create a Relic Account and play the Company of Heroes 3 Pre-Alpha Preview for the next 3 weeks. Otherwise, you can add Company of Heroes 3 to your wishlist on Steam.
