The former developers of Dishonored and Prey, Raphael Colantonio and Julien Roby, show off their debut game, Weird West, for Wolf Eye Studios at The Game Awards 2019 this year.
Weird West is touted as an isometric action RPG where players take on the role of a mysterious character in a Wild West themed world. The catch this time, though is the world itself is, well, weird, with strange occult rituals, oddball monsters and more fantastical creatures showcased in the highly stylized world premiere trailer. We also get to see snippets of gameplay, featuring that classic overhead isometric style mixed with a bit of muddy grit thrown on top.
Weird West is reminiscent of the tabletop RPG Darklands, which combined dark fantasy and the wild west into one. Players will share the land with these fantastical creatures, and journey through "the origin stores of a group of atypical heroes, written into legend by the decisions you make in an unforgiving land." The world is planned to be responsive to your actions in Weird West, making every choice you make count in building up the legend of your hero. Players will also be able to travel it alone or form a posse to venture across the more 'otherworldly' parts of the Weird West for themselves.
There is not much else in the way of mechanics or features announced for Weird West, as the trailer itself is just a little taste of what the game hopes to offer. Weird West also currently has no release date, but Wolf Eye Studios will no doubt be getting their brand new RPG set for release soon. Colantonio and Roby invite players to keep track of Wolf Eye's social media pages for more information in the future.
